Every once in a while I get obsessed with certain products and can’t shut up about them. I recommend them to my family and friends and everyone I run into when I’m on the road.

If you know anything about me, I love to travel. Subsequently, I love anything that helps make my wandering lifestyle easier without just becoming more “stuff.” I hate "stuff". I hate when I get talked into buying something I don’t need and then it doesn’t fit into my suitcase anyways.
Although I still am tempted by unnecessary splurge purchase from time to time (aren’t we all?), I try my hardest to only buy things that support me and my lifestyle without damaging the values that I’ve built up for myself.
What’s the point of traveling if we’re only damaging the world as we go through it right? Everyone leaves a footprint but I want to do my best to keep mine as small as possible.
Just to let you know, this post may contain affiliate links. Don't worry, they won't cost you anything extra. If you do decide to purchase something, I may receive a small commission. I absolutely hate ads so to avoid using them on my blog, the links I've attached cover the cost of running this site. I will only ever recommend products that I truly believe in or advocate for.
So anyways like normally I’m talking too much. Let me just tell you about the one thing I discovered that I WILL NEVER leave out of my carry on ever again. Eaak I’m still so excited about this almost a year after purchasing it.
If you travel at all and wear make-up, you really need to get The Original Make-up Eraser in your carry-on.
The Original Make-up Eraser is a sustainable make-up removing, washcloth-sized towel that is made up of millions of tiny, hair-like fibers. If you want to know the science about how it works, the official website has all kinds of information. But basically (a non-scientific recap by yours truly), the thin fibers act like tiny suction cups to gently pull make-up off your skin.
Plus it’s machine-washable so that’s a bomb bonus.
Now hear me out, it’s been on the market since like 2013 so it’s not like this make-up remover is ground shattering or brand-new. Nope, I just finally actually decided to give it a chance.
Now in case you’re not sold yet, let me just give you a couple of reasons why The Original Make-up Eraser is my new favorite thing in my make-up bag.
It's Cheap
How much money have you wasted trying different make-up, hair, and skin products? How many of them end up half empty or half-used anyways. If you’re like me, you’re probably willing to drop a decent amount of money when you find something that you love and works well for your skin.
(Skin is hard to take care of when we’re always jumping off and on planes am I right?)
But the thing is, IT’S NOT EVEN EXPENSIVE.
This make-up wipe only costs $20! That’s it!
I used to use Mary Kay’s eye makeup remover. It worked well enough, but it cost closer to $30 a bottle. A bottle that I’d go through in less than a year and I was still using make-up wipes for the rest of my face. Which granite, a pack may only cost 4 bucks but when you’re going through a couple every month that adds up too!
The Original Make-Up Eraser claims to last through washes of 5 YEARS! I’ve only had mine a year but even if it fails on me tomorrow, it’s already saved me money. Not to mention, 5 years from now I’m sure I could stomach another 20 bucks.
It's Environmentally Conscious
I don’t even want to think about how many makeup wipes I only partially used and threw away. Sometimes I’m only wearing a little foundation or mascara and I literally cringe having to use an entire make-up wipe.
Did you know that there are 7.6 Billion make-up wipes thrown into the landfill each year? 7.6 BILLION. EACH. YEAR. That’s so insane to me. If I can do my part to help decrease that number, by golly I’m going to try.
It Works Better Than Wipes
I’ve found that it not only works better than wipes but I spend far less time scrubbing my face to get all that water-proof gunk off. Not to mention, it’s so easy to pack. This is key for me.
It takes up less space than a make-up remover bottle without getting me in trouble going through airport security large liquid bottles in my carry-on
I’m Not Drowning My Skin In Chemicals
Obviously I’m leaving the biggest perk for last. It does everything it does by only using water. I don’t have to stress about stupid things like what kind of oils, or laboratory-made chemicals I’m scrubbing into my face every night just to get my makeup off completely.
I don’t know about you guys, but if I can get the same results from something as natural as water, sign me up.
The world is complicated these days. It’s hard to make environmentally conscious decisions. This is an easy one for me.
But please, don’t take my word for it, just get one and try it. I promise you’re going to love it and wonder why you didn’t get it sooner. I know I’ve wasted more money on Starbucks this week than the cost of this towel so why not try it?
For my travelers out there, I’m already excited for you thinking about how much easier it’ll make your life. I’ve sat in the middle of a plane, dumped some of my water onto the wipe and cleaned my whole face without bugging anyone on my left or right. It’s that convenient.
Are there any other travel products that you can’t live without in your carry-on? I want to try all your best ones so let me know in the comments below and I’ll write another review!
