Budget Travel
Budget Travel Vacation Ideas
Many of us who love to travel would do it as much as we could -- if we had an unlimited budget! Fortunately, traveling doesn’t have to be expensive. All you need to do is have a budget travel mindset. Here are some ideas:
-
Sign up for budget travel website newsletters. There are dozens of websites that hunt down travel bargains, then share them with their readers. Sites like Travelzoo.com, Jetsetter.com, and LastMinuteCruises.com give you alerts about great deals.
-
Use budget travel apps. Like the websites, apps can give you alerts when there are discounts. Install apps like Hopper, Skyscanner, and Skiplagged to find bargain flights. Hotel Tonight, Trivago, and Kayak are a few apps that will help you find discounted hotel rooms.
-
Are you a member of a wholesale buying club like Costco, Sam’s Club, or BJ’s? They offer discounted hotels, car rentals, theme park tickets, and museum admission.
-
Travel in the off season when flights and hotels tend to be less expensive.
What is Minimalist Travel?
Another way to develop a budget travel mindset is to consider minimalist travel. Although the goal of minimalist travel isn’t necessarily to save money, you may end up vacationing on the cheap.
With minimalist travel, you pare down your trip to only absolute essentials. That means, for starters, that you pack extremely light. You’ll have one small bag to hold a few items of clothing, basic toiletries, and your phone. Of course, you’ll need to pack your wallet and possibly your passport.
You can extend the philosophy of packing light to other aspects of travel, such as where you stay and what you do while traveling. Minimalist travel is about one word: Simplify! Wherever you can uncomplicate your trip, that’s what minimalist travel is about. For example, do you really need three large table service meals each day? Do you have to take that expensive guided tour to experience a destination? The answer is probably no. Be open to making memories with the simple pleasures you discover along the way.
Who knows, you might even surprise yourself at how much you fall in love with a more minimalistic travel style! Cheaper for you, better for the environment, and all-around good for your soul! We can't wait to share more with you
